On July 18th-Saturday night, 8:50pm, Intermission. The lobby of the  Jacksonville, FL Times Union Center was swamped with anticipated fans, both young and old. Many fans kept it casual with a nice dress or laid back suit. Others were decked out in bedazzled “I Luh God,” or “It’s the God in Me,” t-shirts.

 Between recent controversy and the unanswered reveal of their career as a duo, I was not sure what to expect at the concert that night.

 On Tuesday June 30, D.I.P. Foundation & Shofar Magazine hosted its inaugural Youth Empowerment and Crime Prevention Fundraiser at the Holiday Hill Baptist Church.  Community members gathered to hear powerful messages from P.K. Mickens – (D.I.P.) Executive Director; Steven Bradley of the National Coalition against Domestic Violence; and Florida’s District State Attorney Angela B. Corey.  WJXT Channel 4 News was onsite awaiting her arrival, Corey interviewed with the news station outside.

Shofar Magazine& D.I.P. Foundation is investing in the Jacksonville youth personal growththrough  an Empowerment Summit & Crime Prevention Fundraiser. The event will be held at Holiday Hill Baptist Church 730 Mandalay Rd., Jacksonville, Florida 32216,
June 30th at 7 PM.
 As you know the high rates of crime and violence in Duval county are undermining growth, threatening human welfare, and impeding social development. Indeed, it is unambiguous that crime and violence are a development issue having direct affects on human welfare in short term and economic growth and social development long term.

 A local business plants its roots in the community by establishing itself as a viable partner who provides goods and services to benefit the consumer. When a business invests in social issues that affect the community, then it creates connections that benefit everyone. Jeff Wellesley, the store manager of Sam’s Club, has invested into his local community through various business and philanthropic efforts that range from giving entrepreneurs such as Jerome Brown’s BBQ access to customers by carrying its line of barbecue sauces to donating funds to various nonprofits and government agencies such as Children’s Miracle Network, Pine Castle, & the USO.

 According to the 2012 Florida's County and Jurisdictional Reported Domestic Violence Offenses Report, there were 13,766 reported cases of domestic violence in Duval County.  Imagine how many more cases have not been reported due to fear. Abused women, men, and children, are suffering in Duval County. They are overflowing the organizations with safe houses that are already established. Shofar Media & Publishing Corp:Editor P.K. Mickens was given a vision in November 2013 to organize a fashion show that was all about high heels.

 Heels & Hearts Fashion Shoe Gala, a Premier Fashion Show all about shoes presented by Shofar Media & Publishing Corp originally set for March 23at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront in Jacksonville, FL will be rescheduled due to an overwhelming interest & response to the fashion show.  Tickets already purchased will be valid for the new date.  Anyone who already has a ticket but can't attend in April can get a refund up to the new date.

–Domestic Violence is one of the greatest overlooked problems in our society," says D.I.P.Foundation Director P.K. Mickens. "To date, domestic violence has been largely viewed as a private matter and a gender issue. We have to get to the place where society sees domestic violence as a violation of human rights over everything else. With the public's support, I hope that we can get to a place where we are not scared to speak out against abusers, and to see abusive behavior as a crime.
